History

Established as a small lumber yard in 1953, Weston Road Wholesale was run by Frank Ekstein until his son Rick joined the company in 1978.

Weston then grew from a single lumber yard with 12 employees to become the Weston Forest Group – one of Canada’s most diversified forest product remanufacturing and distribution companies, conducting business on four continents and in over forty countries.  At various times, Weston had offices or operated remanufacturing companies in Canada, the United States, China, Chile, India, Dubai, Russia and the United Kingdom.  Weston Forest Group directly employed 200 people, and achieved sales of almost $200 million.

A reorganization of the group in 2000 led to the creation of six separate companies, some of which have subsequently been sold to either staff or to third parties.

Weston enterprises still controlled by the Ekstein family are still heavily involved in global trade, with offices in both Chile and China.

Today, Weston Forest is one of the largest and most diverse wholesalers, distributors and remanufacturers of forest products in Canada, catering to a wide variety of Industrial Accounts, Remanufacturers, Pressure Treating facilities, Manufactured Housing facilities, Concrete Forming and Infrastructure Contractors, Truss Manufacturers, and Retail and Contractor Yards.

With over 100 staff, including over 30 Sales staff, Weston Forest has wide geographic coverage throughout Canada and the United States.

Weston has repeatedly been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, one of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies, and most recently as one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures.
